Meet Jessica Kumar
Host of the “India with Jessica” Podcast & Founder of
Learn Hindi Anywhere
Jessica Kumar is an strategic marketing advisor, linguistics analyst and expert on South Asian emerging markets living in North India. To those who recognize her from social media, she is known as a “Bihari Bahu” and Hindi speaking educator. She started the India with Jessica Podcast (formerly the Invisible India Podcast) to highlight cross-cultural relationships and engage in powerful interviews with Indian stereotype breakers who seek to enlighten listeners on how to navigate the complexities of Indian culture.
The “India with Jessica” Podcast highlights lesser known facts of Indian culture from the perspective of a returning NRI and an American living in India. They explore the mysteries of Indian culture and current social issues through conducting interviews with various experts, stereotype breakers and interesting people in cross-cultural relationships.
How did she come to India?
Jessica is from Chicago, USA but first came to India in 2006 for an internship, where she learned fluent Hindi through an immersion based program. Since then, she has lived and work in Indian communities. She is married to Abhishek and has two children.
How did she become a Hindi teacher?
Jessica also started Learn Hindi Anywhere in 2020, a method to help non-native Hindi speakers become conversational in Hindi.
Jessica is passionate about helping both non-Indians and NRIs learn spoken Hindi through innovative approaches based in the GPA (Growing Participator Approach.)
She is also a Hindi language coach, helping busy people match their natural learning abilities to the right approaches with no nonsense advice and encouragement.
What else does Jessica do?
Given her keen observation and communication skills, Jessica has become a conveyor of complex and nuanced stories. This includes marketing campaigns for corporate clients, CSR storytelling and promoting selected brands. She also consults for government on the diplomat and embassy level.

Linguistic Qualifications:
-20 years experience in management/mentoring/training
-SOPI (Simulated Oral Proficiency Interview) certified fluent Hindi speaker
-taught language acquisition in professional context (IT)
-have helped over 300 people work towards their Hindi goals from 15 different countries
-has spoken at a number of linguistics conferences including Polyglot, Burning Man and Lingua Cultura.
